What is Reiki?:
“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’, a term used to describe a natural system to help bring about an improved sense of wellbeing and a positive feeling of spiritual renewal. This tradition was founded by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system and benefits may include deep relaxation and the promotion of a calm peaceful sense of wellbeing.
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is simple. The recipient remains clothed and comfortably lies on a couch or sits on a chair. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively, on or near the body using their intuition and training as a guide. There is no massage or manipulation. Reiki can be used on the person as a whole, or on specific parts of the body. It is also possible to receive Reiki at a distance.
Reiki is taught by Reiki Master/Teachers, who have trained in the tradition passed on, in person, from Master to student. Students go through a process of initiation/attunement to the Reiki energy. They are then able to treat themselves and others, not only from a personal and emotional perspective, but also as an aid to individual development and spiritual growth.
What will I feel during a treatment?
You may feel hot or cold sensations, tingling, sleepiness, a sense of deep relaxation. Some people report seeing colours or memories. It is not unusual to feel nothing during your first few treatments.
What happens during a treatment?
You will lie on a couch, fully clothed, usually covered with a soft blanket, the treatment can be either hands on or with the practitioner’s hands held a short distance away from the body. There is no massage or manipulation involved.
What is the advantage of booking a package?
In my experience Reiki has a cumulative effect and single treatments sporadically spaced will not produce the desired results. I want my clients to achieve the full benefits of Reiki and to do that regular evenly spaced out treatments work best. My packages are designed to help you cope with the ups and downs of life and also to be financially more cost effective than paying for single treatments over a sustained period of time. If there isn’t one to suit you do contact me and we can tailor a package to your requirements.
How do you store and use my personal data?
I only collect data from you directly, it is stored on a secure database that contains only your name and contact details. I use your contact details to confirm appointments or for follow up. I will occasionally email clients with special offers. If you do not wish to be contacted in this way do let me know. I am obliged by law to keep a client list for up to eight years, I am the only person who currently has access to this.
Do I still need to see a doctor and/or take medication?
Yes, I would never advocate stopping any prescription medications without talking to your doctor first. Reiki is not a replacement for medical treatment and if you are at all worried by any symptoms you should definitely consult a doctor. Reiki can be used alongside traditional medicine for pain relief and relaxation.
How do I pay for my treatment?
Payment can be made by card through my booking pages or PayPal
