You are the only one who can validate how you feel!

You are the only one that can validate your feelings.

After yoga, this morning there was a conversation about emotions and what to do when someone invalidates how you feel.
For years, I found expressing my emotions very difficult because I was always either shut down or told I was being irrational or over sensitive. So I got to a point where I not only failed to express my emotions, I didn’t even acknowledge them. I would just stuff them down, tell myself everything would sort itself out or that I was resilient and would get through this.
Then I was introduced to Louise Hay and her affirmation “this too will pass” became one of my favourites. It was useful for enabling me to deal with life when things were hard but in some ways it also gave me carte blanche to ignore my feelings as they too would pass.
The trouble with ignoring your feelings is that you then end up anxious, depressed, stressed, resentful or angry or a combination of these. When this happens you may have the occasional meltdown because those feelings will erupt when you least expect it. This is when those around are most likely to invalidate your feelings, telling you that you are overreacting which you well may be because the eruption can be caused by the smallest of things which acts as a touch light and opens the flood gate to all the repressed emotions.
A good self care routine allows you the space and freedom to feel, express and validate your own emotions. You don’t need anyone else telling you how you should feel or dismissing your feelings, they’re not in your body living your life so they can’t possibly know how you feel. You are the only one who can validate how you feel.
The women in my free group are working with the affirmation “I allow myself to unapologetically feel all of my feelings” this week. When life gets busy it can be easy to just push something down and get on with the tasks in front of you but when you practise good self care you leave yourself time in your day to feel and process those feelings.
If you haven’t got a good self care routine or don’t know how to implement one I have a free guide to help you. Link here.
Or if you would like to join the women in my group working on building their confidence through implementing good self care you’ll find the link for that here.

Meditation is an art as well as a skill.

It differs for everyone, in how you approach it, what works for you on any particular day, what you achieve from your practice.

As well as bringing calm, clarity and relaxation it also enhances your creativity. Guided meditations can help you see the world differently, the words you hear both on a conscious and subconscious level allow you to create different images or visions, or change how you feel or think about something. Listening to the words, letting them wash over you, absorbing them, can open you up to new possibilities.

Writing and recording meditations is also an art. There is skill and precision in knowing when to pause and allow your words or voice a moment to be embodied or to allow any emotions that arise to be processed or to pass. Knowing how much time to give the meditator to achieve a state of relaxation before you address changing a thought or belief or taking them on an empowerment journey is crucial as is bringing them out of the meditative state and back to the present moment.

All artists deserve recognition and reward for their work. You wouldn’t go to an art gallery and presume you can just take a painting or sculpture you like home with you, you know you have to pay for it and you are prepared to do so. You pay for designer clothes and shoes because they endow a certain status upon you and you don’t quibble or shirk from paying the price. You pay to listen to the music you love, either by buying the CD or download or paying for a streaming service.

This is why I sell my meditations, why I ask you to part with actual money in order to experience them. I value my time, my artistry, the skills and energy it takes to create an experience for you that will change you in some way. Meditations are not just something you listen to once, like the songs, books, films, they can be enjoyed over and over again bringing something different each time. I don’t charge designer fees though as I want my meditations to be accessible to all whatever their financial status as I believe meditation has the power to change your life.

If you are unsure what you are buying and want to know more please do contact me and I will answer your questions, or check out my reels where I have lots of short meditations so you can hear my voice, my words, my intonations and decide if they resonate with you. Because I know that feeling where you find a meditation you think is just right for what you need and a few minutes in the voice grates on you and there are bells and or other irritating sounds that prevent you from achieving a relaxed state. All of my meditations use the same background music, but if you just wanted my voice with no music I can do that easily for you, all you have to do is ask.

If you want a meditation to address a particular worry or issue and I don’t have one available, then again ask. All things are possible for those who ask!
